The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony has been a tradition in Oshawa for over 30 years. This year, the event is presented by IBEW Local 894 Oshawa.
Join us on Nov. 17 at 6:45 pm. What better way to start the holiday season than with hot chocolate, great entertainment for all ages, church bells, lighting a Christmas tree and a visit from a very special guest in Red, along with his elves!
Entertainment for all ages including…..
- Winner of the Oshawa Public Libraries Battle of Bands, The Goombas
- Original songwriter and entertainer of all ages, Dan the Music Man
- Strolling Entertainment by Tim Holland, The Puppet Tamer
- Children’s Crafts and Games by local arts collective, Broken Arts
Plus….local buskers and traditional carols by O’Neill CVI Senior Chamber Choir!
The ceremony will end with the ringing of the church bells by St. George’s Memorial Church.
After the ceremony (7:30 - 9:00 pm), the McLaughlin Public Library will serve up free refreshments and cookies. The Bruce Gorrie Trio will entertain us with some holiday jazz music, followed by a special family story time.
REMEMBER TO: Dress warm, bring your own mug, bring a non-perishable food item, and bring your Christmas Spirit!
In addition to IBEW Local 894 as the presenting sponsor, the event is made possible through contributing sponsors Downtown BIA, Oshawa Clinic, Oshawa PUC Networks Inc. and RONA Whitby, in addition to proud supporters East Side Mario’s Oshawa Centre, Great Canadian Popcorn Company and Oxford Learning Centre Courtice.
